Most accountants in practice have started their careers within an accountancy practice, completed their professional studies and progressed through the firm. Whilst this is excellent training from a financial point of view, it does not provide any practical experience of a real commercial environment within business.

This is how our accountancy practice differs from most.

 

Tailored Accountancy was established in 2006 by Sarah Taylor a.c.m.a, a fully qualified Chartered Management Accountant.

Prior to starting her own business, Sarah worked for DHL, the global courier company, for 11 years. Sarah worked directly for both Finance and Sales teams, and bridged the translation gap between front line management and the world of finance. Sarahs main responsibilities in later years were forecasting and budgeting for the Field Sales teams (revenue c. 250m), along with helping the front line managers understand their performance in terms of customer retention, growth and cost control.

 

It is this part of Sarahs previous roles that encouraged her to start her own accountancy practice. Many of the managers had vast amounts of sales experience and skills, but lacked the experience and skill-set to look at a financial report and understand what this was telling them and what actions to take. This is where I came in. There is a great similarity between these departmental managers and owners of small to medium sized businesses.

My business gives access to this type of assistance, whereas previously this would have only been available to large corporations employing their own management accountants, or you may have had to pay a consultant in addition to your accountant.
