New Business Information
When you are starting out in business, or even just at that stage where you are thinking about it, there are now so many resources out there to help you and give you advice on everything, that it is hard to know where to start.
Although it may seem like a jump ahead, a good place to start is to have an initial chat with an Accountant. Your initial chat should be FREE of Charge. He or She can give you so much practical advice and also help you with prioritising what needs to be done. From this point, you can start the ball rolling with the safe knowledge that you now have someone there that you can fall back to for the next stage of advice etc.
HMRC have recently developed a set of ten bite-sized online video guides aimed at small and new businesses. Topics range from setting up in business, income tax for the self employed to Vat. Additionally, they have also launched a diary series following three people as they set up business. These can be found at http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/taxhelp
Another area that will need assessing will be Marketing. Its too big a topic to cover in one paragraph, but a good tip is to enter into Google or another Search Engine, the phrase or words that you would expect a potential customer to type and see which websites come up. There will be a number of directory sites that allow free listingsget on as many of these as possible!
